Dreamy Lavender Valley

Some of you might be thinking Lavender fields are only in France. If so, now you know that there are many Lavender Fields in states. I live in Texas, so during this summer road trip across the states I decided to visit this Lavender Field in Oregon which is honestly so dreamlike, so peaceful to your soul.

The place is called Lavender Valley, located in Hood River, Oregon. But just to let you know there are other Lavender Fields as well around Hood River.

We were hiking around Mt Hood all day and arrived here around 4 pm. It was a tiring day but right when I stepped on the field trust me I got so energized. There are bees everywhere buzzing and happily feeding on flowers. And the fragrance, like your nose just got blessed!

And the best part is – the Mt. Hood looking over the Lavender Valley which is undoubtedly a sight to behold. I think the Mt. Hood is what makes this Lavender Valley’s experience extra special.

This was late June so lavender was not in full bloom, but still so pretty. I believe blooming time is around August and September in Oregon.

A short personal story: As a Hindu we believe that the Lord Shiva lives in Himalayas called Kailash (precious jewel of snows). When I was a kid, I used to think if they live in mountains covered with snow than how does his wife ( Goddess Parvati) gets flower to do daily rituals to pray and worship.

After this visit, I kinda feel my childhood question got answered. There must be flower fields beneath those mountains just like this one. And their sons (Ganesh and Kartikeya) must come to play and take flowers to home. Nobody tell me this can’t be true! Cos these images on my head are so pleasing to visualize. I believe that this might be what a piece of paradise looks like.

I might be overthinking cos I happened to wear a top with Lord Shiva printed on it. Original plan was to dress-up for pretty pictures but I was tired so didn’t even bother and had so much fun just enjoying the moment and lost in imaginations.

I will do it again!
